Prop 36 has been helping people enter treatment and improve—and even save—their own lives since July 2001. Since then, over 60,000 Californians have completed drug treatment and had a good chance at recovery.

These are the stories of some of those people. If you would like to include your story, let us know by clicking on the "Submit Your Story" link above.

Parry Freeman

After dabbling in drugs for the last 23 years, two years ago a judge found fit to give me another chance and gave me Prop. 36. I was put into a dual-diagnosed group and, after 18 months at the program, I have been clean over 2 years. On July 21st, 2007, it will be 3 years. Now I have a job and a real wonderful life. If it wasn't for Prop. 36, I would never had found out the underlying problems with my addiction and would probably be dead by now.

Instead, I have my kids back in my life and a new wonderful woman to share the rest of my life with—all due to this program. Thank you Prop. 36...
