Lou Martinez
After years struggling
with his addiction and cycling
through the criminal justice
system, Lou Martinez was
finally offered treatment
through Prop. 36. Since
completing the program in
Sacramento in 2003, he earned
his certification as a drug
and alcohol counselor and
is working towards a degree
in social work. He now supports
his wife and children, and
works with some of the 36,000
Prop. 36 participants each
year “so that they
can achieve the successes”
that he has experienced.
