Stephanie O.
I would not be writing
this if it wasn’t
for Prop. 36. Prop. 36 saved
my life! Numerous times
in jail did not help me.
A religious program did
not help me. Even a prison
term did not help. Only
when I was offered Prop.
36 did I get help.
I was an I.V. drug user
and meth smoker for the
last 15 years. Prior to
that I used cocaine, marijuana,
alcohol, LSD and any other
mind-altering substance
I could on a daily basis
for 35 years (since I was
11 year old).
I am now 46 years old and
because of Prop. 36, I not
only have a life but a happy,
productive life as well.
Prop. 36 has given me the
tools to get clean and sober.
These tools have helped
me to get involved in my
recovery. Through Prop.
36 I am now a member of
Narcotics Anonymous and
of service to other addicts.
Prop. 36 has given me my
self-esteem back, and has
allowed (and helped) me
to be a productive volunteer
at the local Women Rehabilitation
house.
Needless to say, if Prop.
36 was not available, I
would be dead or sitting
in a prison cell at the
people’s expense.
Prop. 36 is a necessary
alternative for people like
myself and others who need
help. I am a miracle and
I have myself, God and Prop.
36 to thank.
